KUNYE Records was launched by Shimza in November 2020 as a platform to connect South Africa’s emerging producers with the global stage. Partnering with Platoon for distribution, KUNYE has released music from artists like Thakzin, Blanka Mazimela, and Darque, with remixes from global talents such as Louie Vega and Mele.
What began as a weekly livestream during lockdown evolved into a successful multi-city event series across South Africa, Kenya, London, Paris, and beyond, drawing thousands and creating a community for Afro-house and Afro-tech fans.
Recognized as an official curator on Apple Music DJ Mix Series and featured as Beatport's label of the month, KUNYE has become a key player in the Afro-tech movement, uniting people through the love of music.
Artists over the years include: Shimza, Melé, Black Coffee, Kitty Amor & many more.
